Sewing Today...

I finished my first BOM quilt block. It's not perfect, but it'll do. (I squared the image, so it looks a bit uneven...it's really not...just couldn't get a square/head-on photo.) That brownish color is really green, the cream is gorgeous and the red is different than it shows here. I'll have to try to get a better photo. Cuz, it's much prettier in person...very rich looking.

Stopped at Hobby Lobby today...picked up 1/2 yard each of these 2 fabrics. I found the cutest free pattern online...will show you when I get done. It's 'seasonal' fabric, so you know it must be for something special that will get done this week.

And, here's another song I like very much. The message is very similar to the song I posted about yesterday. The lyrics are actually printed on the video screen. The main theme is about going through the motions and not really giving everything...

And, here's Tango
- who is in bad need of some grooming again -
snoozin' away...

HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY, TANGO!!!

Today is Tango's birthday! My old boy...13 already! Hard to believe! He came to me in the summer of 1996, just after his 1st birthday. We were a great pair in obedience, agility and therapy work. Whatever I wanted, he gave to me. My PERFECT dog.

Here are a few of my favorite photos.
My beautiful big boy...so self-assured and wise.

I am wishing for another good year with you.

I love you, my big boy!

Doodling...

Not much going on...hazy/foggy/rainy/warm outside...must be the January thaw.

I have many things on my 'to do' list...but am ignoring the majority of said list and having a really easy weekend! Been hooking and listening to the Eagles new album (see, I don't always listen to LZ!). I'll get you a sneak peek of this rug soon.

Good news (for me, anyway)...after I work this week, I have 10 days off! YAY! Will have LOTS of photos to share from that week...if all goes as planned, that is.

Here's a photo of Allegra, Tango and Tag* with their new toys from Aunt Julie.

*(Did you see that the wart hog has fallen forward so that his nose is touching the floor? I cracked up when I noticed that!!! Looks like Tag & his toy are laying there in the same position....hahahaha.)

That's all for today!

This n' That...

I took a bunch of photos today. I've been busy getting a lot done, but I am also spending time just hangin' outside...enjoying the glorious summer day.

These first two photos...just taking my daily walk around the yard, looking at what's blooming and checking on the pears, which are about 2 1/2 inches now.

After lunch, I took my scooter out and washed it off...it got very dusty sitting in the basement at the apartment building. I wrecked my knee shortly after I bought it, so I really didn't have much of a chance to try it out or to train any of the dogs. Want to know what in the heck I'm talking about? Click on this link and you'll see... http://www.dogscooter.com/

Anyway, here is a photo of the scooter...it has 20" wheels and the handlebars are set about 48" off the ground, I think. I hooked Allegra up with her x-back harness and she looked at me as if to say, "I believe you have me mistaken for someone else...I am THE Princess!"...and "You want me to do what?" Doesn't she look cute sitting there, though?

I relented and took her off the gangline. Then, I got Tag hooked up with his brand new hybrid harness...custom made...even has his name embroidered on the harness! Course, he hadn't a clue what 'line out' meant, so he kept following me as I tried to take a photo. Apparently, he doesn't know what 'stay' means, either. Doesn't he have the sloppiest sit you've ever seen? Cripes! Curt came over to see what we were doing...apparently he is a much braver person than I am...he jumped on the scooter and Tag took him for a little ride around the property (with a lot of help from Curt). YAY, Tag! LOTS of training ahead for me, for sure.

After we finished with that, Tango and I sat outside and hung out together...he's such a good ole boy.

I had dyed some woolens the other night...first time since I moved here. I was havin' fun! Here are some photos of them...I need to get them listed in my eBay store.

All in all, it's been a very good day...and it's not over yet!

Tango

Tango. After many years of having labradors, I decided that I wanted a collie. So, along came Tango, the perfect, 'what can I do for you?' boy...the dog of my dreams. I wasn't so sure about the tri-color...up to that point, I associated the typical collie with Lassie, who is sable and white. But, I figured Tango looked as if he was dressed in a tuxedo, and that set him apart from the rest. From the moment we started working together, we were a team in the truest sense of the word. We worked in obedience, agility and therapy.

Here he is back in 1996.

His HIC (herding instinct certification) was a cinch for him. Not paying attention to the activities of the herding day at all, he 'turned on' the moment he walked into the arena. This was my first experience with herding...I was so very proud of him. Here's his photo...

Tango is the leader of this pack. The other dogs respect him...he is alpha without so much as a whisper. Here's a photo of him now, at 12 years of age...his colors have faded and his hearing is going, but he still is always ready for whatever I ask of him.

He is my calm.
