And, lately, the coronavirus pandemic. But, of course, I have not taken the time. Until now. When I have some news to share that is not so good.

In my previous post, I was ecstatic with the news of my son's cancer-free status. After a full year of treatment including chemotherapy and surgeries, he was pronounced free of cancer.

A short 4 months later, Matthew had an MRI. Just, you know, to keep an eye on things. Well. Yup, the cancer is back...metastatic colon cancer. We knew there was a high probability (65%), but we hoped he would be the exception to that rule. He has spots on his liver...not large, but there, nonetheless. A plan was agreed upon...Matthew would forego chemotherapy until fall (he will have periodic checks to keep an eye on growth/spread). He wants a summer to drive his Mustang and ride his Harley. I don't blame him...he had no summer last year, what with chemo and surgery and work. And, it would be foolish for him to start chemo now and play around with his immune system with the virus running rampant.

Matthew is a paramedic, so he is already way too exposed to the dangers of this novel coronavirus. He will continue to work...to quote the man himself, "...<span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; font-family: "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">I need to do for which I was created and that is to help others....'
<span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; font-family: "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">

My son is strong and courageous. As he said to me, "It is what it is, Mom."
I, for one, will be happy for the temperatures to cool down a bit. It is a fact that dry heat is much easier to live with than high temperatures with high humidity. But, 99 degrees is still darn hot. And, we have had a rather long spell of those darn hot days. YAY...sweatshirt season is almost upon us. I have always loved fall, but in Wisconsin, winter followed too closely behind. Here, there's not so much winter. So, I am definitely looking forward to the next several months.

It is all good. Truly!

My son, Matthew, had a PET scan last week. He is completely cancer free!!! Two surgeries and chemotherapy did it for him. We are all thankful beyond belief! We do know that this cancer sometimes recurs, but for now...smiles all around!

After saying that, nothing sounds very exciting. So, I'm gonna leave you with those happy thoughts.

More to come...

Matt still has cancer.

He is about 2/3 done with his chemotherapy regimen. He is doing okay, though okay is a relative term when you are dealing with cancer. He has a few upcoming appointments that may (probably)
result in more surgery and chemotherapy in the near future.

In the meantime, I did visit my sons in Wisconsin in February.
While there, I decided that I really needed to make Matthew a quilt. So, I did. Once I got home, that is. Here it is...

What do I say?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matthew is my firstborn. Since I first laid eyes on him and held him close, I have thought that the sun rises and sets on him. He is special in a way no one else could be.
Matthew is just 44 years old...and Matthew has stage 4 colon cancer.
Cancer is so very scary. But. I am keeping positive thoughts. I pray for him. I worry and cry for him, though.
I am travelling to Wisconsin to spend time (11 days!) with my sons. I know...it is not the best time of the year to be in Wisconsin. But, I need to be there.
And, I already have a finish to show you! In January of 2017, I joined a quiltalong on Instagram (my IG name is kelonie). Following "Tula Pink's City Sampler 100 Modern City Blocks" book, we (a gazillion of us) made 2 blocks per week for 50 weeks. I must tell you that I was rather impressed with myself...that I did all of them!! But, once they were made, I put them away and didn't take them out again until after Christmas of 2018...an entire year later! I was determined to finish it before the end of the year, but I came down with a nasty, horrible and miserable cold that delayed my working on it. But, it is done now!!!
I had used all Anna Maria Horner fabrics on the blocks, and the sashing is Grunge Basics by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics in Stone. The pattern I chose from the book is called Sliding Scale, is sized at 80x93, and uses 70 blocks. I made my quilt top to measure 72x84 and used only 54 blocks. I guess I have enough to make another quilt, hey? Anyway. Here are a few photos...
You likely won't see this for another year (or so), because it joins a long list of quilt tops waiting to be quilted.
I have a big project that I'll be starting one of these days...the Bakers Dozen quilt by Jen Kingwell. I'll also be using Anna Maria Horner fabrics for that one. Very excited about this, but also a bit nervous, as her patterns can be somewhat challenging.
In the meantime, I have already begun another quilt top...a bright floral patchwork one.
Have a great week!
Oh dear me. Time certainly never stands still.
So. This post contains a lot of photos...you may wish to sit back and relax with a cup of coffee/hot chocolate. <grin></grin>
First of all, me Mum is holding her own. We are very happy with the care she receives at the nursing home. She still recognizes us and sometimes still gives 'the look', but it is difficult to converse with her for any length of time. She is often living in a world all her own. But, she seems content...doesn't throw things or shout out in anger, she doesn't fight the assistance she receives from the nursing staff, she eats well and is getting good sleep. She is 88 years old. I miss her so much...she is here, yet she is not. I still often half wait for her evening phone call. But, it doesn't come. So much has changed since her stroke in May. The hip fracture (with surgery/anesthesia) did not help at all. She is not aware of the passing of time, yet it is very important to me that one of us visits her every day.
Christmas Eve 2018
As for the Stitch kitty. He is now 8 months old and growing fast! I had a bit of a problem with him biting...more than just the normal kitty 'I wanna nibble on you' biting. I reached out to a cat behaviorist (no, not Jackson Galaxy) and worked hard at doing what was recommended. It definitely worked, as Stitch is more mellow and not so reactive. Carole (cat behaviorist) did tell me that he would calm down as he got older, and he has. whew. I mean, there were so many sweet moments but then he would bite me...unprovoked. Not nibbles, either. Bites that hurt, though he never broke the skin. Anyway. We keep a pretty strict schedule with plenty of playtime. I also started clicker training, which is fun! A few of my dogs were clicker trained and I am surprised at how well he is responding!! He is very smart, but he is a cat, so I wasn't sure how it would go.
But, I did get my sewing/craft room cleaned out. I think I was working on it when I last posted. It's a good feeling to be done. I donated, gave away, and threw out so much...unbelievable how much one accumulates. Right? And, I am trying to make the room safe for Stitch. He loves pulling pins out of pincushions...not a good thing for him to be doing. I mostly keep the door shut when I'm not in there. Otherwise, I need to put so many things away...which proves to be counter-productive. Setting up and putting away each time I want to get something done. It will all work out, though.
I have been working on a 2 x 4 quilt...inspired by this blog post - Film In The Fridge. A few years ago, I bought a box of assorted Cotton & Steel fat quarters...40 of them, I think. I have already made two quilt tops with these fabrics (churn dash and plus) and I had more than enough to make these 49 blocks. One day soon I will get these put together into rows.
At that time, I only had the first two rounds done. But, hey...now it is finished! The quilt top, anyway. And, I am really liking it (what's new, right?)!!
Here it is...not a great photo because I don't have 72" of space anywhere to lay it out. I am not a big fan of anything pink, but I think it adds a bit of drama to this quilt top. What do you think?
And, I finally finished a quilt I started in 2012. I have an 'almost' birthday twin...Lindy's birthday is the day before mine and she is a few years younger. We met on the Wool Snippets message board and have been friends for several years. To the extent that we exchange birthday gifts. Cuz, why not? Back in 2012, Lindy gifted me with the fabric collection of Curio by Basic Grey for Moda. The project sheet that came along with the quilt was the quilt I made. Back here is when I finished the top and backing.
Here it is now, all quilted and laundered...
And, the best thing of all happened...my son, Paul, came to visit!!! Not only that, he surprised me with his visit! I had no idea he was coming and all of a sudden, there he was. I cried, of course...it was so great to spend time with him. It has been a year since my visit to Wisconsin...and it will be another year before I go again...so seeing Paul was wonderful!
Yesterday was 3 years without Tag. That's all I can say.
I am working on the sewing room. PURGING! Feels good to let go of some stuff. Seriously. Moved it here from WI and it's been almost 3 years...do I really think I will get it done? Quite a few things fall into that category. I am tossing some stuff, donating other stuff...and giving away lots. Trying to lessen the load, ya know? I want to do what I want to do, not what others think I should do. Working toward that end.
One thing I want to do is to start sewing clothes for myself. It has been several years since I've done anything like that, so I am looking forward to it. In fact, I just ordered two patterns that I can use in multiple ways to make multiple pieces! I am excited about that.
Well, I think that is it for this post. It is a gorgeous weekend here...and I plan to relax and enjoy it.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.". Jeremiah 29:11Jacque.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11171878615414692923noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-774535709502848037.post-55420140111420152292018-07-13T08:47:00.000-05:002018-07-13T08:47:28.426-05:00Concentration...Or the Lack ThereofI should be working on sister Julie's quilt. Remember those bright colors? But, here's the deal...I am at the point where I need to lay the (partially put together) blocks out for color arrangement. Once I do that, I will be able to finish putting the blocks together and then sew the blocks to each other.
However, in the meantime, I acquired a kitten. Which leaves me with somewhat limited opportunity to work in peace on something that requires a lot of concentration.
In addition to dealing with the new kitten, Mum's health is declining rapidly. As you know, we placed her in a nursing home a year ago. What you may not know (unless you saw it on Facebook), is that she had a stroke at the beginning of May, followed by a fractured hip a few weeks later. She has never fully recovered from either event. In June, she was admitted to a hospice program.
That's all I have to say about that for now.
But. What happened as a result of the distraction of life...the inability to concentrate? I started a new quilt! One that does NOT require much thought or concentration. And, I am using fabric that I already have! That's always a huge plus, am I right? It is the Moda Bake Shop's Choose Your Own Adventure Quiltalong. The fabric I'm using is Pat Bravo's Indie Boheme...
Well, at least until having a cat was really the only choice I could make. Then...okay!
I got a cat! Here is Stitch...my orange boy.
Isn't he too cute? I adopted him from the Humane Society...we think he is about 8 weeks old. I named him Stitch because everything I do...knitting, sewing, embroidery...involves a stitch of some sort.
He is one busy boy, that's for sure. But, definitely likes to cuddle when he's tired and purrs like a little motorboat. It is going to be an adventure, for sure.
There are a lot of pieces to the quilt I am working on now. It's for sister Julie. Can you tell that she likes really bright colors?
I have been working on this for about a month...cutting, piecing, and pressing. For now, that is all just to get the individual components of each block ready to go. Next, I need to get those components together to make the blocks. After that will begin the process of laying everything out and making rows.
But, first...company is coming and I have a few things to do to get ready.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.". Jeremiah 29:11Jacque.http://www.blogger.com/profile/11171878615414692923noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-774535709502848037.post-89521365442620615642018-06-16T14:30:00.000-05:002018-06-17T09:10:07.606-05:00Inspiration Comes From...Where do you get your inspiration from?
Usually, I am inspired/motivated by what I see in my Instagram feed. Sometimes, a group challenge/project/quiltalong catches my eye, and sometimes it is a particular fabric. Other times, it is a specific person whose work I admire.
So, imagine my surprise when I was inspired by a backsplash. You know, that area of wall between counter top and bottom of upper cupboard. I was watching the Nate & Jeremiah by Design show on a Saturday night when a teal colored backsplash was shown. Now, honestly, I have seen many, many backsplashes in my lifetime (because I have been known to watch more than a few of those home shows). For some reason, though, I immediately decided that the very simple pattern would make for a fantastic-looking quilt. Plus, it would give me the opportunity to use up more of my scraps!
Here is the first block I made...
See...easy peasy.
So. I set about making the quilt. I made it the perfect size (54 x 66 inches), so I was able to quilt it myself on the Big Bad Boy (Janome 1600p bd). It is now completely finished...even laundered! And, guess what? I am in love with it! It wasn't supposed to happen...was just a project between projects. Like I needed something to occupy myself with. But, hey...the softness, the drape, the texture...any one of them, but all three? How could I not love it??? It is never leaving my house.
What do you think?
My village quilt is finished! I will be sending it off to my longarmer very soon. For those of you who know I have issues with 'random', you will be happy to hear (read) that the placement of the 132 little houses was completely random. I threw all of them into a box, drew them out one by one and sewed them together in rows...and I think I switched out only once! I love it!
This next quilt top was made in a week. I had been inspired by the pattern of a backsplash shown on the Nate and Jeremiah show. Just a simple layout, but it motivated me to use more of my scraps to make a nice lap quilt. I will more than likely quilt this one, myself.
I also finished this scrappy crossroads quilt!
Whenever I get the urge to do some mindless sewing, cloth napkins appear...
And, I have been working on a quilt for sister Julie...putting together a bazillion components to begin with. I will soon have something to show.
Lots going on, lots to write, but not now. Soon.
Have a good week!
Since that time, I re-homed most of my rughooking supplies. I did keep my frame and a few tools, though. I also kept two rugs. One that was never started and one that was started but never finished The unstarted one...3 collies and a lab...let's be real...that one is never going to be hooked. But, the star rug? I have recently been thinking that it would be a good thing to work on. Here's a photo of how it looks thus far...
It isn't like I'm looking for something to do, because....well, you know...I have a lot of projects on my list. Nope...it's because I was inspired by Kelley of With Hook and Needle. She posted progress photos of a rug she was hooking on Facebook...and I fell in love with that rug! Guess where it is now? Here on my living room floor!!! ohmygosh...I love it!!!
Isn't it gorgeous? I love it so much! It measures about 16 x 26 inches and fits perfectly in front of my tv cabinet.
And, Kelley also sent along this little mat (about 7 inches square) for me...isn't it too cute? She left it for me to finish off as a pincushion or a mat...for now it is laying on my table so that I can see it (and smile) often throughout the day! (This isn't showing good color...the background is more red than it looks, here.)
I have always loved Kelley's work...she is the best at primitive.
I will let you know what I decide as far as finishing my big a** star rug.
And, unfortunately, it usually moves at a faster pace than we would like, hey? Life here in Canon City seems to move slowly...yet, here we are almost at the end of March!
As usual, I have been busy sewing.
I am still building houses for the #sewingavillage party on Instagram. It's so much fun to make them...and to see what everyone else is doing...different fabrics and individual touches. There are 16 weeks to this sewing party and we are halfway through. Here are the last 3 weeks.
The blocks finish at 16" and, once you get a bazillion 4-patches put together, the blocks go together very quickly and easily.
Those small houses measure 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. I am working ahead, but this is how far we are in this party. So much fun!!
I finished my 4th SBB Heart Builders quilt! I received the butterfly fabric and about 1/8th yard of orange with white dots fabric from SBB and I added in the other dots and the solids from my stash. It's always interesting to see what I come up with. This quilt top measures 46 1/2 x 64 1/2 inches. Somewhere, there is a little girl who loves butterflies and bright colors who will be very happy to receive this. The next step for me is to mail it off to my team leader. She will see that it gets quilted and then it will go with many other quilts to this quarter's charity.
Almost a month ago, I finished making blocks for my plus quilt. I finally sat down and sewed the blocks together. I LOVE this! It measures about 60" square, so it's small enough for me to quilt myself.
I am a Silver Sneakers member now...there are definitely some benefits to getting older! I no longer pay a gym membership and am able to join any gym that honors the program. So. In addition to working with the strength machines and walking on a treadmill at Anytime Fitness, I started going to a different gym that offers a restorative/chair yoga class. My attendance has been a bit sporadic, so I need to make a commitment to going every single week. It feels good when I go, both physically and mentally...but there are days when I just don't want to interrupt whatever it is I'm working on. I need to get over that.
Me Mum is doing okay. However, she fell again the other day. Her BP fluctuates and she has orthostatic hypotension (decrease in BP when she stands from sitting or lying down). Because her doctor was going to be unavailable for a few days, she was sent over to the ED to be checked out. We are getting to know all of the staff there (and we like them all...they're so good to Mum). Everything checked out, but the ED doctor told us that it looked like her wrist had not healed. So. We shall be going back to the ortho doctor to have that checked out. And, Mum agreed to wearing a helmet to prevent a serious head injury. I told her we could decorate it!
We will be playing cards with Mum today. Tomorrow is my day off of everything. What are you up to this weekend?
Thank you one and all for the birthday wishes that I received via snail mail/email/Facebook/blog, etc. You helped make my special day even more special! I had a nice birthday. No partying...no whooping it up. Just spent time with family.
Late in the afternoon, I received a call from the nursing home...letting me know that me Mum was on the way to the ED because she had fallen and hit her head on the bathroom sink. She had quite a gash. So, I spent 3 hours there with her. She is doing okay and the staples (10 of them!) come out next week.
On Saturday, I took my homemade angel food cake over to the nursing home and spent more time with my sisters and Mum. (The cake was so good!)
I have been working on my 4th charity quilt for SBB Heart Builders. The blocks are done...I just need to sew them together and then get the quilt top into the mail.
The #sewingavillage party over on Instagram is in its 3rd week...so to be on track, 24 houses have been made. I am trying to keep ahead of the game by making a few every day or so. The total number of houses for this village quilt is 132. That makes for a lot of planning and cutting and sewing. Mine will be mostly scrappy, but scrappy AND random is sometimes difficult for me to do. I have so many scraps...and I am trying to decide what other scrappy project I can have in the works as long as I have scraps everywhere I look in my sewing room!! Here are more of my houses...
Remember the polka-dot quilt I showed a few posts ago? Well, I was calling it the Dot quilt. So, I made a Toto pillow cover for her!!!
I also made a few more cloth napkins for my niece, Michelle (Jill's daughter), whose birthday was the 21st.
So, that's what is going on here...how about where you are?
Today is Valentine's Day. Do you do special things with/for your loved ones? I made a primitive stuffed heart for me Mum to hang from a lamp in her room at the nursing home. I forgot to take a photo...but will get one taken next time I visit.
My sister's first wedding was on Valentine's Day. We bridesmaids wore red velvet dresses...very elegant.
Friday is my birthday. How do I feel about that? Well, I love my birthday. Perhaps not as much now as I did when I was younger. Still, though...it has always been a very special day for me. I remember one year, when I was old enough to know better (probably about to be 8 years old), I became very upset because my Dad had to go to work. On my birthday!!! Could not understand that. And, I LOVE gifts...I feel as if everyone in the world should (want to) give me a gift. Not even kidding. Well, perhaps a little bit.
At any rate, on this upcoming Saturday, we will have a small party over at the nursing home with Mom. We will eat angel food cake...yum! It is my favorite cake. Forever and always. For years, and before I moved to Madison, I served angel food cake (with that fluffy, sticky white frosting - remember?) at my birthday party. I always asked my Godmother/Aunt Bev to cut the cake for me...and she always obliged. It was way less messy with her doing the cake cutting. That is a memory that makes me smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As usual, I have some finishes to show you.

And, I have several items on my list that I need to plan. A few quilts for family members, 3 tote bags, several napkins, Kleenex cozies, etc. I am hoping that Brenis will come to visit soon. I need her help in getting a good start with one of the quilts.

Hope you're having a lovely Happy Valentine's Day!!!
I have only good intentions. Well, you know what they say about those, don't you? Road to hell and all of that...

So. I appear to have a problem with keeping my blog updated. Unsure why this is, being retired and all. Not like I leave the house for several hours a day or anything like that. Ya know?

Here's the solution I came up with. I will stop in and update you all when I do and I guess that is the way it will be. No excuses. No apologies. No pressure.
Okay with you?

Thanks...I appreciate you.

Well, here it is another January. (Happy New Year!) This month is already almost gone, though. Time sure has a way of moving way too fast lately. There is nothing much new to tell you about. I sew. I visit me Mum in the nursing home. I spend time with my sisters. I go to the gym. OH! When I was in Madison last fall, I attended a chair yoga class taught by my friend, Kim. I rather enjoyed it and am happy to report that there are a few similar classes here for me to attend. YAY! So, those are on my weekly schedule.

I have a few things to show you. May as well sit back and relax. Prepare to be awed! ~grin~
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">Actually, I love cloth napkins. For two reasons.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">1.) In days long past, Christmas with my Gram was always special. A wonderful day for many reasons...church, gifts, relatives, food...and because Gram brought out her good china, along with the linen tablecloths and napkins to dress the tables. She made everything look so special. I now have - and use - those tablecloths and napkins.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">2.) When my sons were very young (well over 35 years ago), I decided that they needed to know there was more to the world than boys and men and rough and tough. So, every Saturday, we had candlelight dinner...what we ate - spaghetti or steaks on the grill - wasn't the issue. The issue was to learn how to sit at the table with grace and manners. I made some cloth napkins to go with my fall-themed Corelle dinnerware. It was time for the boys to learn to use something other than their shirt sleeves. Okay, they never actually did that. I just wanted them to know there was more than...well, whatever they thought there was.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">Since that time, I've always had cloth napkins. Didn't know I was being 'green' back then. Just knew that it made sense to me to use something reusable.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "coming soon";">~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The above was taken from a blog post

I wrote back in November of 2013.

It made sense to repeat it here so that

you all know what the heck I'm talking

about as I go on about cloth napkins.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back when I wrote that post, I didn't have much money to spend on Christmas gifts, so I decided to concentrate on making gifts. I ended up making mostly napkins, with a few aprons tossed in the mix. I believe I made 9 dozen napkins that year...and only had to buy for 2 sets. That's a lot of fabric, hey?
So, here we are 4 years later, and I have continued to make - and give away - cloth napkins. After much experimentation, I have finally settled on the best sizes and the best way to finish the edges. Which means, of course, that making them is an almost mindless task. Something we all need to have in our sewing repertoire.
I usually do not buy fabric specifically for napkin-making. Rather, whenever I run across a piece of fabric in my stash that I decide I will not be using for anything, it goes into the 'for napkins or kleenex cozies' bin. You've had that happen, right? Look at a piece of fabric and wonder why you bought it? And, you know. Those pieces of fabric that you may consider ugly sometimes do actually make darn cute napkins.
I use napkins every day. Every meal. I have not bought paper napkins for many, many years. Here is most of my current collection...
my personal collection of snack and dinner napkins...
some florals, some dog-themed, some linen, and some fun ones
I must admit, though...these red and green napkins are used more than any of the other ones. Just because.
I usually have a few napkins on stand-by. It is nice to have something on hand in the event a small gift is needed...sometimes a few napkins makes for the perfect choice. This is my current stash of napkins (and I have several more ready to work on)...
this batch appears to be running in the flowery and bright theme!
Most of the napkins I make finish at 16"...not quite as large as a dinner napkin you will find in a nice restaurant, but certainly large enough to do the job. These all have 3/4" hems and mitered corners.
So, there you have it. Do you use cloth napkins? Do you make your own?
Napkins and kleenex cozies are my go-to for something to sew when I don't feel like expending much energy (i.e. brain power).
And, for once, I am way ahead on my Christmas sewing with just two small gifts to finish up. woohoo! Which all means that soon I will have nothing to work on. (as if) So. I have been giving thought to what I can do next.
I need a project with no deadline, because after the beginning of the year, I have two major projects to begin. After much deliberation ('much' being defined as no more than 2 minutes), I decided that I am going to start working on the Village quilt. I have everything I need for the quilt top. So, why not, hey?
Course, there is never enough time. And, never enough time to do everything one wants to do. Right? I am definitely going to plan my trip differently next time so that I am able to include those I wasn't able to see this year.
So. I promised a blog post about meeting up with a special friend while in Wisconsin.
Her name is Donna.
If you will recall, I met Donna back in 2013 through an online strawberry swap we were participating in. If you don't recall this, click here and then here. We have maintained an online friendship since then.
This is the same Donna I commissioned to make a mug mat featuring a chocolate Labrador. I wrote about it here.
About the time I was moving out here, Donna and her husband bought some property in Wisconsin and moved from Florida! So, I was hoping that I would get to meet with her on this trip back home.
Thankfully, everything worked out...we met up in West Bend at the Omicron Family Restaurant, where we had a wonderful lunch. We sat and visited for a very long while after we were finished eating. Apparently, we both like to talk. ~grin~ I felt very comfortable with Donna...as if we really had known each other for a very long time. Once we left the restaurant, we decided to visit a quilt shop (always in need of quilt fabric, you know). So, off we went up the road where we found Royce Quilting. Gotta say...it is a lovely shop!
Over the years, most of the fabric shopping I do is done solo. Whether buying online or at a LQS, I shop alone. Why? Because I've never had sewing/quilting friends who lived near me. So, you can imagine my delight at shopping with a friend...one who knew what I was talking about and who helped me get what I needed. We had a great time together. I am so very glad that I made the time to spend time with Donna. My friend.
Looking forward to the next time I visit Wisconsin...
PS Donna and I exchanged gifts...I gave her some acorn-headed straight pins (she is acorn crazy!) and she brought me homemade canned pears and pesto. LOVELY! Thank you, Donna!!
Two times.
TWO TIMES!
That is twice. Yup, on two separate occasions, I had a lovely narrative detailing my vacation to Wisconsin! With a gazillion photos to boot!!!
Both times, I went back in to edit the post and somehow, someway, managed to delete the entire thing. Seriously? This isn't my first time around the block...and certainly not my first rodeo. Ya know? I have been doing this blog thing for several years (10+ to be exact!). So, what did this latest experience teach me? Well, of course...to save this post about every other word. ~grin~
But, seriously. I am no longer in the mood (and you probably don't care THAT much) to write a narrative. But, I do want to show you some of the photos. I promise it won't be boring.
Ready? Here you are...
