I made a few things last week but wasn't able to show them before now. They were received today...gifts to my sisters.
First up...I made a double-zipper bag (it's actually the LOVE Zipper Bag by Sweetwater) for my sister, Joyce. Gave it to her as a thank you gift. She flew to Colorado (from Maryland) to play nurse to Jill, my baby sister, who had a total knee replacement. Nurse Joyce will be there for two weeks. Purple is Joyce's favorite color, so I made it in purple...though I think it shows here as more blue. The little patch is also from Sweetwater and reads, 'Life is good'...
Next...more kleenex cozies! I thought they might make nice little gifts for Jill's PT gal and the visiting nurse. And, anyone else Joyce and Jill might want to give one to.
It looks like we are going to have some sunshine and warmer temps here this next week. Hallelujah! I am so tired of cold and gray days...am so looking forward to Spring.
It is Daylight Saving Time tonight (technically, tomorrow a.m. at 2:00...like I'm gonna get up then and change my clocks?)!
I hope to work on doll clothes this next week...need to fill up my Etsy shop. With Spring right around the corner, visions of spring/summer dresses and outfits are running around in my head. Poor Cassidy Jane...she has been whining about having only one outfit. Not like the ones I sew will be for her , but at least she'll be able to try them on and model them for me. ~grin~
Enjoy the weekend.

One In and One Out...
It is time to say goodbye to Emma, my 16 inch model. She's been visiting since July and now her mama wants her back home...so off she will go. Goodbye, sweet Emma! Thank you, Cathy!
In the meantime, a special someone arrived today...and I am very excited to have her here! A lot of the patterns I have, and the clothes that I want to make (that I will need to make up my own patterns for), are for 18-20 inch dolls, so it makes sense to have a doll that size to help with fitting and modeling.
So. Without further adieu, meet Cassidy Jane...my 19 inch model.

| did you see that she has ears? |
Here they are together...Cassidy Jane and Emma. Wow! There are many differences in these two girls and not just in the size...
I plan to have fun with Cassidy Jane. I just hope that what is in my head translates to paper and fabric.

Cathy and I redid Fiona.

She is ready to go to her new home.
Gosh, she sure makes me smile.

Calling All Models...
Emma, made by Barrie over at Moonchild Dolls, arrived yesterday. I could not be more delighted! Emma is a 15/16 inch Waldorf-inspired doll with brown curly hair and green eyes...and look at her feet! It will be so much easier...and certainly more fun!...to have a model to work with.
| Emma |
Because she had been placed on the wrong postal truck, Emma arrived very late in the day. I am thankful that the carrier made a special stop to drop her off, though, instead of taking her back to the substation where she would have had to sleep overnight.
Emma was very worn out from the long trip from Virginia...
I think I'll give her a few days to acclimate herself to this household and then we'll start in. In those few days, I need to work on this next quilt I started...and I definitely need to think seriously about what I want to make for Emma to model. Not that there is any shortage of ideas running around in my head...it comes down to which of those I can actually bring to fruition.
Cathy is sending two more dolls who are apparently very excited to be used as models. All I know about them is that one is a girl and one is a boy...and that they are smaller. I will let you know when they arrive (was there any doubt about that?). Those two will remain with me. Thank you, Cathy! Emma is on loan, only. Someday, she will be returned to Cathy. Someday.
And, in the meantime, there is some very exciting (almost beside myself) news in the making! No details have been worked out, so I don't want to jinx it by saying anything. Stay tuned!
Have a great weekend!

Some Finishes...
A few things to show off you today.
And, just so you know, these 2 little doll dresses have been laying around, waiting to be finished, for months. MONTHS! One just needed to have the velcro sewn on. The other needed the bodice sewn and then put together with the skirt. It took me less than an hour to finish them both up...
And, yesterday, I finished the baby girl granny square quilt top!
They're piling up, ya know. The quilt tops...flimsies. I have more than I have ever had before! Mostly because I have nowhere to lay them out to pin baste them...not since I moved to this apartment. When I found out about the ability to rent a longarm quilting machine (back in April), my plan was to set up a day each month to quilt one of my flimsies.
Yeah, but then my car broke...it got fixed, but with a big repair bill. Best laid plans and all of that, ya know.
Anyway. I am not sure what's going on with me...I seem to be a bit more motivated to work on things...to get things done these days. Kind of scarey, ya know? ~grin~
Wonder what I'll work on next? I definitely have much to choose from.
