Merry Christmas

Well, here it is Christmas Day afternoon.
The festivities are over.

I went to son Matthew's this morning.
He made us a huge breakfast.
Conlan and Jasmine loved the tv/floor pillows.
I received a very nice framed photo of the kids
and a new mouse pad with a photo of the kids on it.
Love them!

Here's Conlan.
(aka up & coming rockstar)
In his suit, no less.
He asked for a suit for Christmas...
can you believe that?
An almost 8 year old?
Perhaps more Michael Buble than Jon Bon Jovi?
(Gotta tell ya, though...I've seen Jon in a tux...looks so good!)

Here's Matthew, hard at work.  Makin' bacon, methinks.

And, here's Miss Jasmine, Miss Blue Hair (before her time...isn't it usually the old ladies that dye their hair blue?).

Unfortunately, those are about all the photos I took.

But, here are some of your favorite brown dog!

With a new...you guessed it...WART HOG!
From Santa (aka Aunt Julie)...
He hasn't let it out of his sight.

It was a great day.

I need to finish up 3 gifts and get 2 packages shipped.
Then, I will officially be done with Christmas.

Right now, though?
I am going to sit and spend some quiet time reading.
In my jams.
Snuggled with Tag.

Pillows for Two...

I whipped up 2 of the 4 pillow covers I need to make for the grandkids.  These are for Jasmine & Conlan...I will see them tomorrow morning.  I found some great home decor fabric on sale...YAY!  I made these pillows for the grandkids to use on the floor while watching tv or while reading propped up in bed...or whatever.  They're 24 inches square.

Jasmine's fave color this year is lime green...
(I think the pillow is upside down)

I put zippers in them so that they'll be easier to wash.

Conlan is Tag's boy.  Seriously.  Tag thinks that Conlan was put here for him.  And, Conlan does love the brown boy.  I figured brown dots would be ideal for him.

I washed the fabric before putting these together.  This piece shrunk enough so that the width wasn't quite as much as I needed.  But, it had nice wide selvages.  So, I used them!  My flash whited this out, but the zipper is actually halfway between the two white edges.  I think it's pretty cool, but am sure that Conlan will not be as impressed.  {grin}

Hope your Christmas is Merry!

Catching Up...

I've a few photos to show you.

This is the blanket I made for Manley (sister Julie's Golden)...measures about 28 x 40...same on both sides.

See what I did on his blanket?  I free-motion wrote his name.   Can you see it?

Here's the blanket for Kisa (sister Julie's cat)

I don't think I ever posted a photo of this quilt...maybe just a sneak peek before?  Well, here it is...pretty in pink.  For Joyce to give her granddaughter, Alyssa.
Finished this one, too.   Fabric is Coco Express by Jo Morton.

I received these photos this weekend...

Conlan - Mr. All Around Flag Football player.

 Jasmine & Conlan.

Conlan - I love black & white photos!

Jasmine - stunning.

I feel much better after doing nothing all day.  I am now ready to take on the work week.  (well, sort of)

I hope you all have a great week!

I LOVE My Grandkids...

That should go without saying, I know.
I don't see them often,
so every single time I do see them,
I am reminded of how precious they are to me.

Here are some photos from today.

My son, Paul, with his daughter, Kaylynn.
(I love this photo!)

Devin with the neighbor's cat, Nugget.
He (the cat) used to live here and
walks over every time I have company.

Jasmine was very impressed with this very tall dandelion.
By the way...Kaylynn adores her cousin, Jasmine.
She imitates her every move...
it is so dang cute to watch.
Fortunately, Jasmine loves being adored.
{grin}

 Conlan.

Tag is ecstatic that his kids are here...
he's very tired tonight, though.

50's Dance...

My son, Matthew, with his daughter, Jasmine.
They are going to a Father/Daughter 50's dance tonight.
oh, how fun!
I wonder if they'll actually dance???
I can't wait to hear all about it.
From both perspectives...{grin}.

Lookin' good!!!  Have fun tonight!

FINISHED!

It doesn't quite matter what one starts, does it?  Isn't it all about what one finishes?

I don't really know the answer to that, but gosh, it sure seemed like a good lead-in to this post, which is all about what I finished this weekend.

Ready?  Here you go...

1.  Started & finished.  A reversible apron for Jesika (DIL)...she bought the fabric in January and has been waiting patiently.
2.  Started & finished.  Apron for Jasmine (granddaughter)...just because.

3.  Started & finished.  A kleenex cozy for a friend who loves dots.  I also made one for Sylvie in France...my placemat quilt swap partner.  (yeah, I know...no travel-size kleenex package in it.  Don't worry, there will be when I send them out.)

4.  Finished both placemats for my placemat quilt swap...I'll show them once I know they've arrived in France.

5.  Finished reading the novel Blood Vines by Erica Spindler.

6.  Started & finished.  Hemmed a pair of scrub pants for a coworker, but I didn't take a photo.  Cuz, you know...scrub pants.  If you've seen one pair, you've seen them all!  {grin}

7.  Started & finished.  Bathed Tag E. Butt.

I think that's everything!  Well, besides the normal, everyday sort of things like fixing meals and taking showers and talking on the phone and doing dishes/laundry, etc., etc....you know.

And, for those of you who are wondering if the synvisc injection had any effect...I think that it did!  My knee doesn't hurt nearly as much as it has been.  I was told to not expect much until after the second injection, but it really does feel better.  So.  We shall see, hey?

Lazy Sunday Afternoon...

The kids are gone, which makes me sad...it was so much fun to have them here.  They are so different from each other...so special in their own ways.  I love being their Grammy!

Kaylynn played with Tag a lot yesterday before Conlan & Jasmine got here.  "I can't reach it, Tag!" are the words that cue him to push the kong closer.

She has so much fun playing with him...

The kids played outside for a long time this morning...

I plan to spend a quiet afternoon and evening watching the Olympics.  USA plays Canada - gold medal hockey game - this afternoon...will watch that.  My ex-husband refereed hockey, so I know a bit more about it than I do of some other sports.  And, I clearly remember 1980, the Miracle on Ice.  There is so much excitement about this upcoming game....GO Team USA!!!

Hope your weekend has been a good one!

Sleeping...At Last.

The girls...and Tag.

Conlan made a fort to sleep in...

DQS8 Finished...& Grandkids Coming!

Kaylynn, Conlan & Jasmine are coming today & staying overnight.  I'm excited, as I don't see them nearly enough!  Devin is at his other Gram's today, but may come tomorrow for breakfast and to spend the morning with us.

In the meantime, I wanted to show this...I finished the dqs8 quilt!  YAY!  It measures about 20 inches square...perfect size!  I love this fabric...MoMo's Wonderland...and the snowball blocks were easy peasy to make!  This turned out so much better than I had envisioned!  I love it!

I haven't yet decided if I should wash it before sending it.  Last year, I washed the quilt that I made for dqs7.  I love the crinkly look...but, come to find out, my partner didn't.  So.  Decisions, decisions.

Here is the quilt front...

& the back...
I am sending along some goodies...
this fabric basket I made using this tutorial.
My swap partner loves owls.

And this gnome panel, ~20" tall.
Here's the front...

and the back...isn't this adorable???

That's all for now.
Have a great weekend!
