About a million years ago - or when I was about 8 years old - my Grandma made a quilt for my Chatty Cathy doll. I have managed to hang on to it all these years. I used to keep it in my cedar chest, but now it sits on top of the pile of small quilts and unused pillow covers that reside on said cedar chest.
Here it is...
I love it...don't you? It measures about 21" square and is made with pieces of corduroy, cotton and flannel...it is soooo soft!
One day, out of the blue, I had a thought! (ohyeah...it does happen once in awhile!) The thought was to take my scraps of Christmas fabrics and make a doll quilt based loosely on the way Grandma put together my little quilt. So, that's what I did. I finished it this morning.
This one measures about 23 inches square. I will be listing it in my Etsy shop later today.
I have been busy sewing...more to show tomorrow.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.". Jeremiah 29:11

Marvelous idea! And both are so cute!
Jacque, how lovely to still have this sweet little quilt after all these years... My Chatty Cathy doll remains tucked away in my parent's attic...Sending hugs from Maine, Julie...

I love scrap quilts and the gees bend style of using what you have, any way you want;)

The last and most favorite doll I still one is my Shirley Temple doll. Mom sent her to me a few years ago and I found a glass case to display her in. The only thing missing was her shoes. I even found a photo of Shirley Temple wearing the identical dress which I found an ArtDeco frame for and display them together.
How with 8 kids running around like wild Indians did she manage to hold on to these things amazes me. Guess we'll discover more when we start to empty out the family home.
loved both of those quilts.
Beautiful quilt. I found you by going down rabbit trails. Merry Christmas! This is one of my favorite scriptures.
