Waiting...

I was reading Ashley's blog (Film In The Fridge) the other day...she had written a post about her unfinished quilts.  Go here to see what she has to say (and show).

It got me to thinking that I really need to finish some wip's.  Good grief!  I have probably about 8 quilt tops done, but five of them actually have the backing ready and are completely ready to be finished!  So, what's the holdup?  I just need to get at them and get them done!  Right?  (And, you know what's even better?  I have the bindings ready for those five, too!!!)

Here they are, in no particular order...

Wonky Log Cabin (wow...I started this back in September of 2009!)

Paris Park...this is for Kaylynn and was started 2 years ago...

Paul (son) and Rachel's wedding quilt...been married almost 3 years now...oops!

And, this whirlygig quilt that I am not totally in love with (but am sure I will be once it's quilted)...

Kashmir Filmstrip...

I also have this one waiting...it's from Kelley and it is all hand-pieced.  I've not done anything but prepare a backing for this yet because I keep thinking I should hand-quilt it.  We shall see what happens with it.  Need to make up my mind and get it done.

Of course, you know that there are more in various stages, but I really need to get at those five that are waiting.

Anyway.  Just taking stock.

And, trying to keep cool in this hot weather.

Have a great Sunday!

Things To Come...

Remember when I started the Wonky Log Cabin Quiltalong...
back in September?

I never quite got into it as much as I thought I would.

That was when Allegra got sick...
and well, you know the rest.

So, I have 6 blocks done...
I think that's enough for a small quilt.
I was going to add blocks of the fabrics as a second border,
but after thinking about it for 2 days,
I decided not to.

(By the way, this is the Just Dreamy fabric collection by Riley Blake.)

I sewed on the plain borders today, cut the binding strips,
and have the backing fabric ready to put together.
All set to work on another day.

Measures about 38x53, which is an odd size,
but...it is what it is.

So, then...
I had all these strips that had been cut for the quilt...
what to do with them?

Ohyeah!  I could put together another stacked coins quilt!

So I did.
Here it is...measures about 30x32.
(And I have lots & lots of 3x5 inch blocks left over.)

So, that was my day...
what'd you do?

A Great Afternoon...

for a motorcycle ride!

My son, Matthew, and his wife, Jesika, stopped by to replace my tv's converter box, which had gone kaput a few weeks ago. Wasn't that nice? Course, I had begged and begged for two weeks...telling him he was the only one who could do it for me. ~grin~

Here they are...just arrived! Matthew has a Honda GoldWing (his Harley-riding Grampa would roll over in his grave if he knew his grandson was riding a Honda!)
Cracked me up...as soon as they got off their ride, they both checked their phones for messages.
And, while they were here, they helped me move some furniture around. I had just found out that I'll be getting something new (to me) tomorrow, so the timing was great! It was so nice to have two strong young people to help. Course, you know, about all I did was say, "I want the sofa sleeper here, the antique dresser in the office (more on that at some other time), and the table in the sunroom."

So. That's that.

Now for the quilting news. I cut and sewed and trimmed and ironed all day yesterday. Got a quilt top about half done! woohoo! Sorry, no photo, yet.

Today, I started on my wonky log cabin quilt. It involves a lot of cutting/pressing/trimming, but it is a lot of fun! And, one can be as 'wonky' as one wants to be. (I think I'm kinda medium wonky.) Here's my first block...
That's all I have today. Be sure to check back tomorrow for some really fun and awesome news!! (for me, anyway...~grin~)

Wonky Log Cabin Quilt Along

Tomorrow is THE. BIG. DAY!

The first day of the 'wonky log cabin' quilt along,
led by none other than Quilt Dad!
This all started with the Old Red Barn Co.
quilt along I did this spring.
Remember this quilt?
I still love it.
I still haven't decided who to give it to.

The next quilt along was the zigzag quilt.
I planned to do that one with this fabric...

Didn't ever get started on that quilt along...
so now I am chomping at the bit
for this one to get started!
I think this same fabric will work out
with the wonky log cabin pattern.
I bought a Kona cotton solid for sashing...
want to make floating squares.
I think.
Like the one found here.
