Displaced...

Well...all good things do end.  {sigh}

We are being displaced by a family member ( landlord's mother) so we need to move out of this house.

Julie is going north to live with our Mom.   Long story...but me Mum needs someone to live with her.

I have my job with the state, so need to stay in this area.  For now.  So...I am looking for a place to live.  Must be out by September 1.

Say prayers that I find somewhere good.  Fast.  Please and thank you.

I definitely need to declutter...we will have a huge garage sale very soon.
In the meantime...I do need my creative outlet...so have done a little quilting and sewing!

Kelley's quilt - as posted a few posts ago - is now finished!!!  And, of course, I am in love with it!!!  Thank you, Kelley!!

I am publishing this post with my phone...hope it all works okay!
Will post again soon.

Breaking Up Is Hard to Do...

It will be a short break...I hope. My computer needs to be replaced and I need to save up for a new one.

While I am on this break, I will continue to work on my unfinished quilts and will take photos to show you when I am done (with the break).

Also...my email will be changing.

I'll be back soon!!!!

Wonky Stars Revisited...

With thoughts of finishing quilts in my head lately (see this post) I decided to go through my stuff and make a list of quilts started and not anywhere close to being finished.  Works.  In.  Progress.  There's a list (that is not complete, by the way) on my sidebar, which I guess I've been ignoring.  Oh. My. Gosh.  It's crazy!

I must get at them.  Right?  I have a few big projects that I am dying to get at, but my head is full of all this other stuff.  The 'waiting to be worked on and finished' stuff.

So, without further ado...

Here's the first one.  Last year,  I was in an Aqua and Red Block Swap.  When it was my month, I asked for wonky stars...and I got them!  Aren't they awesome?  (I actually received 19, so I'm guessing I didn't photograph them all???)

This wonky star quilt is one of the ones that got off to a good start and then I let it sit.  I was even super organized with it...all the squares of fabric are cut and stored in a bin.  It takes no time at all to make one wonky star.  So...why have I let it sit?

Who knows.  It really doesn't matter right now.  Cuz, I do have a plan!

I need 64 blocks for the front and 3 for the back.  67.  If I put in a little time here and there and make a wonky star...or two...they'll be done in no time at all!  In fact, since making that plan, I made 8 of them!

Now I only need 40.  I can deal with that number.

How about you?  Do you start projects and then get distracted?  Or, do you finish one before you start the next one?

Have a restful Sunday evening!

Follow-Through...

See, I am NOT all talk.  I am following through...yup, I actually am!

Here is the first of the unfinished quilt tops that I have to finish.  I posted about them recently...here.  After that posting, I made a plan to finish one of these quilts each month.  That way, by the end of the year, they'll all be done.  And, one a month won't interfere with the other things I want to do.  Shouldn't, anyway.
So.  This is the hand-pieced quilt from Kelley.  She had left a comment stating that I should 'just get the darn thing quilted and use it, for pete's sake'.  Or, something to that effect.  {grin}.  I already had the batting for this quilt measured and cut, so it's getting done first.  This month.  July.

It is now pin-basted and ready to quilt.  So, as soon as I figure out what color of thread to use and what quilting pattern, I'll be off and running with it!

Staying in the ac keeping cool.  Are you?

Hot Stuff!

It's been quite slow around here.  I'm not moving very fast...or getting much done.  Though I would prefer to stay indoors in the air conditioning, there are times when I must go outside...to drive to/from work...to potty Tag...important times like that.  I tell ya...the heat and humidity seem to sap whatever energy I have right out of me.

I know there are places much hotter and people much worse off than me, so I am not really complaining.  Just saying that not much has been getting done during this heat wave.

I did have a finish, though!  Here it is...

It's a runner for my dresser...one of the panels I had made for curtains (see this post) and didn't use.  I used the same linen/cotton blend for the back that I used on the front.  (looks different color because I took the photos in different rooms at different times of day...top photo is more accurate.)

Details...
Kashmir III by Sentimental Studios for Moda
Essex Linen by Robert Kaufman in Natural
Pattern by Erin of Why Not Sew? fame.
22 x 48 after laundering.

The runner matches this yet-to-be-finished quilt top first shown here.

This is the first time that I've used linen (55% linen/45% cotton blend) and I must say, I am very happy with it.

I've been doing some knitting, too.  I also have an embroidery project in the beginning stages.

I'm very happy that it is Friday night...going to stitch and sew all weekend!

Hope you have a good weekend, too.  Stay cool!

Waiting...

I was reading Ashley's blog (Film In The Fridge) the other day...she had written a post about her unfinished quilts.  Go here to see what she has to say (and show).

It got me to thinking that I really need to finish some wip's.  Good grief!  I have probably about 8 quilt tops done, but five of them actually have the backing ready and are completely ready to be finished!  So, what's the holdup?  I just need to get at them and get them done!  Right?  (And, you know what's even better?  I have the bindings ready for those five, too!!!)

Here they are, in no particular order...

Wonky Log Cabin (wow...I started this back in September of 2009!)

Paris Park...this is for Kaylynn and was started 2 years ago...

Paul (son) and Rachel's wedding quilt...been married almost 3 years now...oops!

And, this whirlygig quilt that I am not totally in love with (but am sure I will be once it's quilted)...

Kashmir Filmstrip...

I also have this one waiting...it's from Kelley and it is all hand-pieced.  I've not done anything but prepare a backing for this yet because I keep thinking I should hand-quilt it.  We shall see what happens with it.  Need to make up my mind and get it done.

Of course, you know that there are more in various stages, but I really need to get at those five that are waiting.

Anyway.  Just taking stock.

And, trying to keep cool in this hot weather.

Have a great Sunday!
