More Pillow Covers...

I will never tire of making pillow covers.

I will never have too many.

This weekend, I have made two.

One had more to it than the other.

Neither one was difficult.

One had several different prints.

One had a few strips and bigger pieces.

One was both linen and cotton fabrics.

One was all cotton fabrics.

One was quilted.

One was not.

One had an envelope backing.

One had a zipper on one end.

I enjoyed making them.

One as much as the other.

Black linen with 3 black cotton printed strips.  12x16 inches.

Heart Day is coming, so I am ahead of schedule with this one!  16 inches.

I need pops of color in my living room...
so the next pillow covers will have COLOR!

Hope your weekend is going well for you.

Late Gifts...

Though I try hard to get gifts to people on time, it doesn't always work out that way.  My sister, Joyce, has been patiently waiting for her Christmas gift, which she received today...only 2 weeks late! Course, her birthday gift was also in the package, and that is about 3 weeks late!  ~sigh~  We FaceTimed while she opened the package. (I love technology, don't you?)  My sister, Julie, had made a counted cross stitch piece for Joyce that needed to be finished.  Shown in the second photo...it reads, "Sisters love to go shopping together".  For a long while, I had no idea how to finish the piece...but then - ha! - it came to me.  How about a messenger bag for Joyce?  So, here it is...
Not sure how well you can see the front flap, but it is rounded on the corners and goes almost to the bottom of the bag.

Here it is with the front flap folded to the back so you can see the counted cross stitch piece I inserted.  I made a dark purple flange around it with a purple solid.

Julie also made a counted cross stitch piece for sister Jill, which I finished and gifted last week.   For her, I made a log cabin block with the puppy as center for a 12 inch pillow cover...

I also received a counted cross stitch piece from Julie...unsure what I'll do with mine.  Guess time will tell, hey?

More to do...always more.

Little Projects...

Happy New Year to you all!
Are you full of resolve for the new year?
Resolutions...goals.
I have plans for this year.
My fave quote is this one...
"A year from now, you may wish you had started today."
Amen to that!

Yesterday, I made a comment on Facebook that
I was in my happy place.

Here's what I was making...
12 inch pillow cover

Way back in 2010, I received a very special gift.
Read about it here.

It took me forever to quilt it...
but I finally did.
July of 2012.

I call it my winter quilt.

I love throw pillows
and had decided a long time ago
that I needed to have at least one
to go with each of my quilts.

I didn't make this winter quilt,
so I didn't have scraps to match it.
Initially, I had thrown a pillow cover
 made with vintage happy fabrics
on the 12" pillow form and had that on the bed.

And, though I love this pillow cover,
it just doesn't work with the winter quilt.
Looks too....happy.
Ya know?

So, I pulled out my container of primitive fabrics
and put together a pillow cover.
I made it using the same pattern as the quilt...
alternating 9 patch squares with squares.
I quilted it in the same pattern (diagonal lines)
as I had quilted the winter quilt.

I love it.

I am very pleased with how it turned out!
(I am going to break my arm patting myself on the back one of these days!)
