Marching On...

I am so happy that March is finally here.  I am tired of winter.  Spring (well, the official day of, anyway) is in less than 3 weeks.  woohoo!  Warmer weather has got to be coming our way soon!

I haven't done any sewing at all this past week.  I finally got the itch to do something, so cut some fabric tonight.  I have another baby quilt to make...

Those are all green prints...and much prettier in person.  There's a story here that I'll share when the quilt is completed.

I stopped in at my lqs this morning.  Grabbed one of these...

There may be a story involving these fabrics and my lqs.  Time will tell.

Here's the brown boy...though his head is resting on his snowman, I am sure that he, too, is dreaming of spring!

Another upcoming project for me involves these fabrics.  I may be able to add 'designer extraordinaire' after my name if this turns out.  ~grin~

Of course, I do have more projects, but I think this is all my mind can handle for now.

I really must get some quilt tops put together with batting and backings and quilted!  I don't seem to have the energy for that right now.  They'll be there waiting when I am ready.

Had a little chat with my grandson, Conlan, tonight.  He is 10 years old and we chat on the phone like two little old ladies...it is hilarious!  He was at home and I was here...we were both watching Hawaii 5-O and talking about the cast of characters.  His favorite is Steve McGarret (Alex O'Loughlin).  I told Conlan that he was my favorite, too...and that I thought he was terribly good-looking.  When I asked Conlan if he liked him for the same reason, he laughed and told me that he liked him cuz he was the 'only one on the show with abs'.  Cracked me up!  But, he's right.  Here he is...and wearing those eternal cargo pants.   ~sigh~

Something new...the other night, Kisa laid right behind Tag on the ottoman.  They are touching!  I was very surprised...this is a first.  I guess they do enjoy each other's company, after all!  Well, at least this time.  ~grin~

That's all I have to share with you tonight.  I plan to sew tomorrow, so you may want to check back and see what I accomplished!

In the meantime, have a great rest of the weekend!

Bee Block and Stars for Baby...

The weather is unseasonably warm, which is absolutely fine with me!  In the high 40's...in January!  And, no snow.  I do wonder what that will mean for the next few months.  It's a bit scarey.

My aqua and red bee block swap continues after a month off.  Here is the block I made for Sally.  She was so nice...sent all the pieces cut out and also sent along complete instructions with colored photos!  This was a very quick and easy pinwheel block to put together for her.

I started a baby quilt yesterday.  Should have been done last week, but I just didn't get to it.  A baby girl quilt.  Pink, but not too much 'in your face' pink.  Ya know?  So, there is a lot of white surrounding the pink not-too-wonky stars.  I've only got blocks made...am in the middle of deciding where to go from here.

That's all I have going on right now.

Almost time to go squeeze into the big easy chair with the brown boy and watch one of my favorite shows.

(That would be Hawaii 5-O.)

A Whole Lot of Stuff Goin' On...

WOW.  I have a lot to say today!  You may as well settle in for a long read.

The most fun news, first!  I stopped in at my LQS last Friday.  Saving Thyme is celebrating its 10th anniversary...and everything I bought in the picture below was on sale for either 30% or 50% off.   Except the Lily & Will charm pack.  I couldn't resist that.  Oh, I also bought 2 spools of thread that I need to quilt 2 quilts with.  They were not on sale.

I paid, and was then told that my purchases entitled me to gifts!  YAY!  I was given the book, "The Quilter's Legacy" and the charm pack, which is a mix of creams/golds/greens!  Plus, I received a coupon for $5.00 off my next visit!

I entered a drawing for a fat quarter bundle on my way out the door.  Didn't really pay much attention to it.  Cuz, you know, I never win.

Except, I did!  woohoo!  21 fat quarters, a book of patterns, and 5 fat sixteenths!  How fun is that!!!  The fabric is Sanibel by Henry Glass.  Go here to see all the fabrics in the collection.  No clue at this time what I will make with it.  How fun, though.  I mean, seriously...who wouldn't love to win 21 fat quarters!  I am blessed!

I finally have some decent photos of the baby quilt I was making.  It's for Maggie, a baby girl born last week to coworkers of mine.  She weighed 10 lbs...poor Mama Sara.

You'll remember my struggles with getting this quilt going.  Thankfully, I was inspired by Erin's 'small squares quilt'...though my squares are not small.  Still...inspiration is what it is.  Thank you, Erin!  I used several green charms (5") and Kona cotton solid in Bone.  (ohmygosh..if you've not used Bone...you must!  That color is absolutely fabulous!)  I quilted it with green variegated thread.  Maggie's quilt measures about 38 inches square.

This photo is closest in color, methinks.

I have a roommate!  I have been (kind of) looking for one since I moved here.  Didn't really want one, though.  But, it would help me out to have someone to share a few of the expenses with.  So.  Finally!  Maureen, my spiritual mentor, started talking to me about it a few weeks ago.  I didn't get too excited right away, because we've talked about it before.  But.  She prayed and got her answer!  She'll be moving in by the first of the year.  I think that we will be able to work well together to make this a good place to come home to.  She is so excited about working outside...having a garden, planting flowers, etc.  Well, she can have it!  {grin}  I prefer to sew.  Or almost anything that doesn't involve bugs.  I think this will be very beneficial to both of us and I am very much looking forward to it.  Now that I've gotten used to the idea.

I was at Kelley's blog a bit ago...and was directed here.  Reading this story about broke my heart.  Please visit for an opportunity to help out.

hmmmm...I think that's it!  Did I miss anything?  Let me know if I did.

1st part of DWTS's 2 part finale is tonight!  And, my fave new show, Hawaii 5-O!  I will be planted firmly in my big easy chair.
