DQS10 Quilt Received!

I am dancing on the ceiling!
I love it so much...
who wouldn't??
The circles fascinate me.
The quilting is awesome.
The colors are perfection!
I love it!

And, here, Reene was afraid
I would be disappointed.
Not hardly!

 And, it came from England!
That means...
I have placemats from France,
DQS9 quilt from Germany,
DQS10 quilt (this one) from England!

Reene also sent a small bundle of
the fabric for me to play with.

I love participating in the doll quilt swaps.
But it definitely can be
a bit nerve-wracking.
Will the partner you get from
send something you'll like?
Will the partner you send to
like what you made?
So far, I think I've done
more than okay.

If you have a few hours...
or a few days...
go here and see all the doll quilts.
You will be amazed!

As for Tag...
I think he is perhaps doing a wee bit better.
Please keep your good thoughts coming.

DWTS tonight!

Workin...

 I haven't gotten too much done.

But, I did get my doll quilt quilted.
 I tried something different...
swirly thingies instead of meandering.
By the time I was half done,
I had hit my groove.

I also made my second star block for
the Moda Challenge, Just One Star.

That's all I have for now...
am working on the tote bags.

DQS10 Quilt Top Done!

Okay, so I went from no idea
of what I wanted to do
to this...
Quilt top all done.
Will bind it with one or both
of the solids.

Pieced backing yet to be put together.
Now that this part is done,
I have scads of time before the deadline.

I am pretty happy with it.

DQS10 blocks

Last night, I fell when I was
coming into the house.
Not sure if I tripped,
slipped, stumbled or what.

I fell on both of my (bad) knees.
OUCH!

Must have wrenched my back when
I was trying to not land on my knees
because it sure was bothering me.
I didn't sleep more than an hour or two last night
and I could barely walk when I got up this a.m.

So, I stayed home and didn't do much of anything.

Until tonight, when I am finally more comfortable.

I did a bit of sewing...
several short spurts
got these blocks cut out & sewn together.
They are for the dqs10 quilt.
(do you like my makeshift design wall??...it's batting pinned to my window curtains)
The half-square triangles along the right side
measure 4 1/2 inches.
The churn dash, friendship star & monkey wrench
blocks measure 6 1/2 inches.
The rest of the blocks
measure 4 1/2 inches.

I will find a pleasing layout for these
and will fill in with a variety
of 2 1/2 inch half-square triangles.

My swap partner likes traditional blocks
made with modern fabrics.
I think I got it right.

The finished quilt will
measure about 24 inches square.

Have a great weekend!

DQS10 Fabrics and...For Hire!

My first commission!
YAY!
I've been asked to finish a quilt
by a friend of a friend.
It's a t-shirt quilt for her son.
Susan cut squares from her son's t-shirts
and ironed the interfacing on.
Then, decided she didn't want to finish it herself.
So, here we are.
There are 63 squares cut at 9 1/2 inches
and 24 squares cut at 4 1/2 inches.
I can make a nice quilt for her.
Deadline...mid-April.

My only wish is that I had gotten
my hands on these before she cut them out.
But, it is what it is.
We talked about what she wanted
and what I could do
and I have a plan.
Sashing and border and binding with Kona solid.
Backing of denim.
It'll be a fun quilt for her son to have.

I finally put together some fabrics for DQS10.
Yes, I know...the batiks are for that swap.
This is an additional doll quilt.
Yup, for the same person.
I had 4 meadowsweet fabrics and I
found 3 other fabrics that work well with it.

Now to decide what to do with them.

Right now, I have no ideas!
Hope inspiration hits soon...
the deadline is April 15.

hmmmm...guessin' I'll be busy between now and then.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maureen and I ran a few errands
together this morning.
We stopped at the lqs and visited my quilt.
Ohman, it looks so nice hanging there...
I felt like a proud mama!
The girls at the shop were very pleased with it.
Hope you're having a great weekend.
Bargello Practice...
I've been working on my dqs10 quilt this morning.
A mini Bargello quilt.
Here's what I have thus far.
It measures about 11 x 13 inches.
Not sure where I'll go from here.
Perhaps a thin border and then some squares.
Not in a hurry...
can't mail it before 3/15.
So, I'll take my time
and see what happens.
Snow Day...
It's been a quiet day.
I readied umpteen million
(okay, only 11, but it sure felt like more!)
packages to mail out.
Not sure what the rush was.
Sure ain't goin' anywhere tomorrow!
Blizzard in progress here.
YIKES!
I don't really care.
I have no place special to go.
Work, you say?
Um, well...
they're closing things down at the U.
YIPPEE!
I am a non-essential employee.
So, I'm to use my discretion.
Yeah, okay...if I had a snowplow...maybe.
Since I don't,
I won't be goin' tomorrow, either.
Instead, I'll keep working on my dqs10 quilt
(that's doll quilt swap 10).
It will look kind of like this.
But all sewn together.
It already needs some adjustments
and a plan would be good
(because I messed up on the right side).
Here's what it looks like outside right now...
I did a lot of blog-hopping today.
Stopped in at Courtney's blog.
Look what I found!
Teeny tiny pincushions!
Made with bottle caps.
You know, like off your soda water bottles.
I may have to try them soon.
Courtney made one!
Course, my water soda comes in cans,
so I might have to search for caps.
Here's the tutorial.
Have a great night!
