What a Mess!

It's not like it was a spur of the moment decision.  I had been thinking about it all week long.  At least for this one past week...perhaps longer.

I am feeling cramped in my living space.  Mostly when I want to sew, or cut some fabric.  It seems as if when I want to do something sewing related, I need to move something in order to do what I want.  I have been getting a bit frustrated with that entire process.

Plus, I need to get my light table set up so that I am able to trace the rest of the Snow Days stitching (on the pieced blocks) and there is no place to set it up and leave it set up while I take a few weeks to get these tracings done.

So.  Yesterday, I decided to move some furniture around and reorganize my fabrics (doll clothes vs quilty and everything else).  I pulled a shelf unit out of the bedroom and into the dining area.  I moved the furniture in the living room to make more room (so I could bring out the shelf unit).  I pushed my dining area table up against the wall.  This is where I'll do my sewing.  I emptied out my closet...well, mostly.  Probably about half emptied out my closet.  And, then I quit.  Here's what I had when I went to bed (slept on the sofa, which is very comfy, by the way).

ohyeah, and I also got out my pc because I need to transfer some photos from it to my laptop.

So, this week is set aside to get everything rearranged to make my life easier.  That does depend on how thorough I am when sorting through this mess.  ugh.  Hoping I get done sooner rather than later.

In the meantime.  I finished this carrycot (fabric doll bed).  It measures about 15 x 8 x 5 and includes the carrycot, mattress, pillow and quilt.  It will go into my Etsy shop for my business, The Chocolate Puppy.

What do you have planned for this week?

Carrycot Giveaway!

Comments are now closed.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another giveaway!
This time, I am giving away a carrycot...a doll bed made of fabric.  Cathy of Quilting on Turtle Hill  and I have decided to run our giveaways at the same time.  She is giving away a Bitty Bud...if you haven't seen her dolls, you are in for a real treat!
I am giving away this carrycot.
This pink with green carrycot measures 10 x 7 inches with 4 inch high sides and includes a tufted mattress, a pillow with pillowcase and a quilt that measures 10 1/2 inches square.
If you would like to win this carrycot set, please comment on this post only.  And, really...go ahead and comment on anything that you want to.   Just please be sure that I have your email address to contact you should you be the winner.
I will use the true random number generator and will announce the winner on October 1st.
Now, if you haven't already done so, be sure to hop on over to Cathy's blog and enter the giveaway for the Bitty Bud!  Her name is Abigail and she is cuter than cute!
We both thank you and wish you good luck!
Always read the fine print.  Cathy and I will be drawing our own giveaway winners.  She will draw the winner of the Bitty Bud and I will draw the winner of the carrycot.  Though it is entirely possible (not even going to do the math on this one), it is highly improbable that the same name will be drawn by both of us.
Christmas Gifts
I am almost done making Christmas Gifts.  I need to finish one more thing and then everything I have will be ready to mail.  I mailed a big package to Joyce today.  Had to make sure she got her box, as most of the stuff in it is for her to give.
Unfortunately, I cannot show you any of what I made for gifts until they've been received.  It won't be long, now!
I can show you these, though...the two carrycots I made for my sister to give her granddaughters.
I think they turned out darn cute!  As you can see, I used the same fabric for the outer shell for the two carrycots.  To distinguish one from the other, I quilted them differently (one meandering and one loopy), made the pillowcases with different trims, and used red on one quilt front and backing and yellow on the other.  Alyssa and Ashley will (hopefully) love them!   These are not difficult to make at all, but ohmygosh, they take a good bit of time and are so putsy!  Not complaining (well, kinda), cuz it's all simple sewing...but just sayin'.
It was sure nice having today off!  I only work 3 days this week, 3 days next week, then work 2 weeks and have a week off.  Pretty tough, alright.  {grin}
Stopped at my LQS to pick up thread and came home with 1/2 yard linen.  I didn't know they had it, so was quite excited!  I've been wanting to try working with linen.  Not sure if I'll incorporate it into a small quilt or use it to make napkins.  Only time will tell, I guess!
Must go quilt a tablerunner.  I'll be able to show you that one when I've finished it.
Have a good night!
Winter Wonder?land...
Not sure if I've said this here before,
but I really do not like winter.
Snow.
Cold.
ugh.
Although, I must say, it can be pretty.
That is all I can say about it.
Doesn't look like we got much in this photo.
(You can still see the grass poking through.)
However, to my right, there are 3 foot drifts.
I am ignoring them.
Getting colder, now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I started/finished a custom order this weekend
for a carry cot.
I think it's darling.

Several pieces to this...
carrycot,
pillow & pillowcase,
mattress,
quilt
(I usually make a sheet, but did a little quilt this time).

Still have many Christmas gifts to sew.
Time is running out...
YIKES!
