Twist!

Twist?

No, not the dance...

Nor anything to do with the man who invented said dance...

Not even the peppermint twist candies...

Twist is the name of Claire's new horse! Claire is my friend, neighbor, vet, landlady...and one of the busiest people I know. She decided that a good way to deal with all the stress in her life is to bring a horse back into it! She's right, too! Time on your horse...what could be more relaxing than that?? And, what a beauty he is...sooo nice...truly a gentleman.

Twist is an 11 year old Quarter Horse gelding...sorrel (Thoroughbred people call this color chestnut) with a flaxen mane and tail. Tonight was the first chance I got to take photos...hope to get some better ones, but this one will do for now.

NEW rug in progress...

I've started a new rug...YAY!!! I'll be posting progress reports on my other blog. Here's a quick peek at what I've gotten done thus far, though.

My other blog is "It's All About Progress..." (just click on that link to go there)

Wait...

I ran across this today and just had to share it with you. Please take time to read it.

Wait
Author Unknown

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, he replied
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate
The Master said gently, "Child, you must wait."
"WAIT!," you say, "Wait!," my indignant reply
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened, or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked and I'm claiming your word!
My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance and you tell me, 'Wait?'
I am needing a 'Yes' or a 'Go ahead' sign
Or even a 'No' to which I could resign.
And Lord, you have promised that if we believe
We need but to ask and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry,
I am weary of asking, I need a reply!"
And quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
He seemed then to kneel and His eyes met with mine
And He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign…
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun,
I could raise the dead and cause the mountains to run,
All you seek I could give and pleased you would be
You would have what you want…
But you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint
You'd not know the power I give to the faint
You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there
You'd not know the joy of just resting in Me
When darkness and silence is all you can see
You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My spirit descends like a dove.
You'd know that I give and I save for a start
But you'd not know the depth and beat of My heart
The glow of My comfort late in the night
The faith that I give when you walk without sight
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask
An infinite God who makes what you have last.
And you never would know
Should your pain quickly flee
What it means that, My grace is sufficient for thee!
Yes, your dreams for that loved one
O're night would come true
But the loss, if you lost what I'm doing in you.
So be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And how often may My answers seem terribly late
My most precious answer of all is still, 'WAIT!'

Doodling...and a basket!

Here are a few doodlings...

1. Did you know...instead of placing your hands at 10:00 and 2:00 on the steering wheel of your car, the NEW advice is to place your hands down farther...more like between 7 & 9:00 and 3 & 5:00. Apparently that old rule of thumb was changed with the advent of airbags. Less injurious to your arms/hands, I gather.

2. Screeched is the longest one syllable word (thanks, Jill & Snapple!).

3. Some people don't know what color their dog is. Drives me nuts, I tell you! All I can say is that if people educated themselves before purchasing a dog, I'd be happy. I know...I'm kind of a snob about the whole thing...but geez. One day while making up a medical record, I saw that the color of the dog was designated as 'peach'. It was a Golden Retriever, whose official colors are blonde, gold & red. But, can't you just hear the owner saying, "well, she's kind of a peach color". The really sad part about this, though, is that the receptionist (ya know, the young gal who works at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital) didn't know the difference, and just put down what the owner said. {sigh}

4. The last letter to be added to our alphabet was "j"...thank goodness for that, hey? (If not for that letter, my sisters and I would be Oyce, Acque, Ulie, Ill....hahahahahaha!!!!)

That's all the doodlings I have for today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, for the basket...here's a mat I hooked
& attached to a basket lid form. Took 2 days - start to finish.
It's my design...just got the inspiration and went with it.
I am very pleased with how it turned out! YAY for me!
(For sure my Mom would say,
"Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back!",
but gee whiz...I think it turned out reallllly well!!!)
Have a great evening!
Who Does He Think He Is??
Apparently, Tag wanted to sleep on the sofa.
He could pick a place...
any place in this 1400 square feet of living space...
on the floor or on the other sofa...
even on my bed...but nooooooo.
This section of the sofa must have looked too irresistible to him.
See the pillows on the floor?
He knocked them off to make his space.
He must think he rules this house!
(oh, but look how comfy he looks!)
Mind you, I've had the same setup with this sofa for a year now...
pillows stacked on one end and always something else
on the other end...so the dogs stay off this sofa.
Ohyeah, don't worry...once I snapped this photo,
I made him get off and I put the pillows back on
(where they still are this a.m.).
Better late than never?
I'm a bit behind on my gift-giving, but me Mum finally received her Mother's Day gift this week. Here it is...
It's backed with a blue print cotton and has a twisted length of the same fabric attached at the top corners so she is able to hang it if she so chooses. Me Mum has a blue bedroom...I made this to match her other cherished things.
There are two mistakes, but I left them there...because I am NOT perfect, and wanted to let that be reflected in my work.
New Toys for the dogs...
The dogs' Aunt Julie sent them some toys from Colorado. A squirrel, a duck and a sheepie. I presume the squirrel is for Tango, the duck for Tag, & the sheepie for Allegra. Tango wasn't interested (sorry, Aunt Julie)...I'm thinking that it's because he is 13 years old & and toys aren't really his thing anymore...{grin}. Here they are with their new toys.
Allegra immediately grabbed the sheepie and strutted around the yard...
Tag thought both the duck and squirrel were for him...
Thank you, Aunt Julie...we miss you!
HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY, TANGO!!!
Today is Tango's birthday! My old boy...13 already! Hard to believe! He came to me in the summer of 1996, just after his 1st birthday. We were a great pair in obedience, agility and therapy work. Whatever I wanted, he gave to me. My PERFECT dog.
Here are a few of my favorite photos.
My beautiful big boy...so self-assured and wise.
I am wishing for another good year with you.
I love you, my big boy!
Antonio Banderas...
I have now seen "The Legend of Zorro"...gotta love that Antonio Banderas! Will have to get other movies that he's been in. He is so good-looking and, of course, his accent makes him irresistible!!!
Here are some videos of him...
One of my favorite scenes from "Mask of Zorro"...
Desperado...
Phantom of the Opera with Sarah Brightman...
Take the Lead...
Been working on some small projects - not rug hooking - will show you later in the week.
Hope your weekend is great!
Pretty Smart for a Brown Dog!!!
So. Those of you who know me well, know that I think Tag is one smart boy. Here's a fun example for you all...especially those of you who have no clue of what I'm talking about...
I was sitting in my big easy chair...eating (or something). The book that I am currently reading was laying on the ottoman. ~Let me just interject this...if Allegra wanted to get up and lay on the ottoman, she would look at the book and think, "oh well, I guess I cannot lay on the ottoman, cuz Mama has her book there".~But, that Tag...he looked at the book & looked up at me...Then, he stood on the ottoman with one front foot and tried pawing the book off with the other foot(missed that picture). When that didn't work, he nudged the book with his nose and flipped the book open.
The cover flipped back...he went to the side of the ottoman and laid his muzzle on the ottoman..."oops, I guess I cannot reach it from here."
He then went back around to the front of the ottoman, jumped up on it...and nudged the book OFF with his nose!!!
Satisfied that he had accomplished his goal, he turned around and laid down. This boy has the ability to figure things out that I've not seen in any dog I've had before. Gotta love that Tag E. Butt!!!
Just Hangin' Out...
Such a gorgeous day!!!! I mowed the fenced area of my yard (and around the outside of it...the rest is mowed with the big tractor that has a 64" cutting width!)...holy schmoly...must have been 80 million dandelions!
Tango will be 13 in 10 more days...lookin' good, my boy!!
See the warthog on the left side of the photo...that thing goes EVERYWHERE with Tag!!!
That white thing laying in front of Tag is my sock. He LOVES my socks...clean or dirty...doesn't chew on them, just carries them around. Funny boy!
